California Lovin

California...lets just say I'm in love with it.
We took a detour on the way to Palm Springs to see the Hoover Dam...which means we went to Nevada, Arizona and California on this trip.  As for the tournament itself, we played a total of 7 games and placed 6th out of 16 teams.  My team, Reunion, was in the Women's Open division...we played against some super good teams, some not as good teams and some pretty tough teams.  The teams consisted mostly of women out of college...I'd say mostly in their 30s.  We lost to Red Rose and Head to Toes--the first team being stacked with past US national/olympian players and the second team being stacked with current US national/olympian players. Heh...BUT that being said, we competed with them really well and those two teams took 1st and 2nd.  So we felt pretty good about our 2 losses.  We also lost our final game, the playoff for 5th or 6th place--in strokes.  Haha..this game was funny because when we were walking off the field at half time, I was telling my teammates that I felt like they had too many people on the field because they were all over the place and always had "like 9 people in the circle!"  All this to say that a few seconds later I was informed that they only had 9 people on the field--including the goalie. Heh heh...I felt pretty stupid.
After the tournament we got to go hiking/rock climbing at Red Rock Canyon.  This was fantastic and I absolutely loved it there...especially when I traded in my clogs and jeans for sweatpants and sneakers so that I could actually climb!  :)

Here's to you, J.Rock.Steve...

HPIM4461

This was the first time I completely put this together--my previous attempt failed...its a really hard puzzle!  Looks good though!...and yes, I do indeed have the skill to hold and carry puzzles as demonstrated in the above picture--without them being glued together :)
If my eyes look a little dark to you...I've been a raccoon since Thursday thanks to field hockey :)

Going home this weekend...really psyched...then California on Monday!

Halloween is on Wednesday...yet I've already dressed up twice :)

I'm a Cat...and the funny thing was...I was still a Cat when I took my costume off--CRAZY!
And this next picture is from Halloween Practice...where I went as THE BOMB DIGGITY...its a fave saying of the coach.

A Cowgirl, The Bomb Diggity, A Cell Phone, A Flower in a Pot, A Goth, A Cave Woman, and M.C. Hammer, represented by the Sophomores

Friday night we had quite the rainstorm...what comes with a rain storm?  Lots of puddles and Oh So MuCh MuD!  What is mud good for?  SLIDING around in it of course!  This next picture was taken after myself, Joelle, Beth, and Amanda conquered puddles all over campus (and off campus when we decided to run over to the Juniors House).  We were thoroughly soaked, very muddy, and very numb.  I even acquired some very nice scratches on my legs.  Though it looks like I'm the least muddy, I was the most hard-core mud-slider, thank-you very much.

Dressing up and mudsliding with your best friends all in one weekend: priceless.

Look at it sideways, sorry...I'm basically in love with Batman and have been my whole life.  When asked what the theme song to my life might be, the first song that popped into my head was "nanananananananananananananananaBATMAN!!!"  This theme song was very prevalent in my youth as I would sing it whenever I swung on the swings at Plowville during my brother's baseball games.  Char, you invited me to your 10th birthday party (2 months before the actual party, mind you)--at least I think it was 10th...but maybe not...no..it was the one that we went to the TV pool and Jeri had a black and gold Mickey Mouse swimsuit--while I was swinging and singing this song.

Notice my Mexican wear.

I was in love with this Goblin mask too.  haha look at the ears!

SCREAM is a classic halloween mask.

And no, none of these have anything to do with my halloween costumes.

So I'm taking this Aspects of Disability class.  Its a good class...not too much homework and we get to peak into the lives of people with all sorts of disabilities.  Now we're doing a section on spinal chord injuries and disabilities that come from an accident or something--learning about people that have disabilities they weren't born with.  This is a very sad section because these people know a life apart from their disability.  I leave the class each time very subdued and full of reflections.  Each class connects to an aspect of what I felt when I had knee surgery.  The people talk about packing up a part of their lives...I was reminded today of when my mom and I went through my room and packed away cleats, shin guards, and other various sports equipment I had collected in my room.  I think about how I felt when we did all this...and I just can't even imagine not getting that stuff back out like I have been able to do.  Thats sad.
I keep having to relive my experience with my knee thing...through this class and through answering a friend's questions (she just tore her ACL).  Its made me remember feelings that I didn't necessarily want to remember...the numbness of it all...but its good because I can help my friend out.

On a happier note...the weather has been gorgeous...and I'm really psyched for halloween...I'll put pictures up, don't worry...you'll be able to see both of my costumes.  I'm pretty pumped for both...I must say.  Both costumes are very much ME, essentially...baha...you'll just have to wait till next week to see what I mean =]
